She spoke no English, and I spoke no Spanish, yet I enlisted her enthusiasm to be the subject of this painting. Victoria felt most comfortable when close to her younger brother, and she brought a warm and genuine smile all the way from Argentina. It was rather dark in the grand foyer of the Cancun resort where we had our photography session. My dear wife raised a heavy table lamp to provide illumination. The deep ultramarine blue and the fiery vermilion background are bold reflections of Victoria's home country.
This portrait proves once again that painting transcends culture, language, distance, and time, as do all the arts.
