Glory

The eye of a perfectionist is always looking for problems and discerning the most effective approach for bringing them closer to realistic accuracy. Such was the case with the eye on the right side of the portrait. The Biblical verse came to me: "If your eye offends you, pluck it out." So I sanded the eye out and redrew it twice until I was satisfied. I then repainted it until no "offense" remained. Can you see the difference? I also have made continual adjustments to the corner of the mouth on the viewer's left side. I've also been working on the background in an attempt to pictorialize a hint of "glory." I am currently about two months away from the completion of this portrait.

It has been a busy summer, but I have found some hours to invest in Acacia's portrait. I put a lot of work into the mountainous background as well as perfecting some subtle details in her face and further developing her hair.
